Healthy Skin Routine – The Cosmo-Nutrition Way

If you’re being strictly scientific, skin starts ageing from age 20, when you produce about one per cent less collagen each year – collagen is the protein mainly responsible for keeping skin tone tight and plump. (There is marine collagen in some of our products to help compensate)

The degradation of collagen and its partner elastin (think elastic), plus, later on, the reduction in the hormone oestrogen due to menopause, are the big villains that make skin thinner, drier, droopier and more fragile. This is known as ‘intrinsic ageing’ and, sadly, you can’t do anything about it.

What is within your power to limit, however, is ‘extrinsic ageing’, which occurs as a result of sun, smoking (including passive smoking) and other environmental pollutants, combined with an unhealthy, stressful lifestyle. Fascinatingly, dermatologists now believe that extrinsic rather than intrinsic ageing is the main cause of wrinkles – and there’s lots you can do to counter its effects.

Good skincare is vital. And we have a good range of products to suit your skin and your budget – some high-tech, some natural, and some combining the best of both. From moisturisers to eye creams, over the past years our research team has put hundreds of formulations through their paces for your benefit.

And always use sun protection – many dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons say their work is wasted if people omit to use it. Not only does sun exposure lead to sags, bags and wrinkles, it triggers hyperpigmentation – aka brown or age spots (the effects of the contraceptive pill and HRT also make these more likely, say experts). Look for SPF15 plus products with UVA and UVB protection and wear daily, all year round.

Most traditional soaps can dry out your skin because they contain harsh cleansing ingredients that remove essential lipids and damage the proteins in your skin cells. Mild cleansers use ingredients that are much gentler to skin's protective outer layer and less likely to cause skin irritation and damage. Ours are designed to work together for short term and long term healthy skin. They aim to clean tone, moisturise, relax and nourish. Plus of course help to combat and remove wrinkles with our famous 5 Minute Magic Wrinkle remover.

Cleanse, tone, moisturise, relax and nourish twice a day - once in the morning before you put on makeup, and once at night before you go to bed. This will give your skin a chance to heal and breathe overnight rather than being clogged by dirt or make up. It can be easier to do this when in the shower as it makes rinsing easier, but if you are only washing your face, here's how to do it:

First, wash your hands so you won't be transferring bacteria to your face.

Make sure that you wet your skin with warm water to open up your pores. Apply the cleanser and massage it into your skin in upwards, circular motions. Work from the neck area upwards. Our products usually will work best if you leave it on for a minute or so to allow it to dissolve dirt and makeup, and to let it get deep into your pores. During this time, continue to gently rub the cleanser in.

Then remove, either with damp cotton pads, or using a sponge, or by splashing with warm water, gently wiping until ALL the cleanser is removed. Never leave any cleanser on your face, as this encourages irritation, spots and imperfections.

Finish off by rinsing your skin with cold water to close up the pores and prevent dirt getting back into them, and therefore preventing blemishes. It will also leave you looking more fresh faced.

Dry your face gently by dabbing it with a clean towel or paper towels. Dirty towels transfer hundreds of bacteria onto your skin which can lead to imperfections.

A few minutes after cleansing, tone your face with toner with a cotton pad or cotton wool.

Toner is used to restore your skin's natural pH levels which were probably altered during cleansing. By restoring your skin to its natural pH, you also make it more resistant against bacteria and micro-organisms.
There are many different types of toner out there, some simply restore your skin's pH, and others also kill bacteria, or leave a spot-fighting ingredient on your skin. It's most essential with people who have an oily skin type. Ours will work with most skin types. Here's how to use it...

Apply a small amount of toner to a cotton pad and simply wipe over your entire face, but being careful to avoid the sensitive eye area.

Do not rinse off!

After cleansing and toning you should moisturise with one of our face moisturisers.

This step can NOT be avoided, even if you have an oily skin type. It's especially important for those with dry skin.
When the toner is dried, apply a small blob of our moisturiser, gently massaging in a circular motion into your face and neck.

If you haven't applied enough moisturiser and your skin still feels a little tight, then apply a bit more. If you apply too much & it feels too oily, then gently blot with some tissue.

Anti-Wrinkle feed and nourish.

Use our magic Miracle Wrinkle remover serum.

Apply our famous wrinkle remover when appropriate first thing in the morning or during the day or when you are going out at night. Apply to the areas with wrinkles with your fingers (clean) cotton wool or pad. Apply gently and allow to dry for 5 minutes. Reapply as needed.  Some people use the serum on their hands, neck and other parts of their body to help refresh and tighten.

Stick to your routine! Your skin needs to get used to the frequency of being treated, and to the products you're using. Sometimes a negative effect appears at first, but this usually goes after the skin has time to adjust. Enjoy your beautiful skin!

Exfoliate- - some notes

Your skin's job is to protect you day and night from the elements of the outside world, and that means it can take a heavy beating from time to time. There's actually a lot that goes into keeping your skin healthy, and part of the process involves the constant regeneration of cells. You might not be aware of it, but your body produces new skin cells nonstop around the clock. It has to because an average adult can shed up to 50,000 dead skin cells every minute [source: Markey]. It's an important process, but sometimes cells don't slough off as well as they should, so they can end up clogging pores, which leads to breakouts. You can do your part to help facilitate the shedding of dead skin cells by exfoliating on a regular basis.

Exfoliation is a simple process that removes dead skin cells from the surface of your body. Most of the time when you exfoliate at home, you use some type of face wash that has tiny, sandlike particles in it. Gently rubbing those particles on your face helps scrape away dead skin cells and expose newer ones, leaving your skin looking and feeling healthier. Generally, you could exfoliate your face twice a week, but there are a few factors that could affect how often you should do it [source: Bruno]. If you have delicate or sensitive skin, twice a week might be too much and could cause some irritation. On the other hand, if you live in a warmer climate or your skin is naturally oily, you might have to exfoliate more than twice a week to accommodate a higher buildup of dead skin cells.

The thing to keep in mind is the goal of exfoliation. It should leave your skin feeling softer and looking healthier - not red and irritated. If you over-exfoliate, you could end up doing more harm than good. For some people, exfoliating scrubs might just be too harsh. If that seems to be the case for you, try using a chemical exfoliator containing glycolic acid or salicylic acid [source: Health]. You'll probably need to use it only once a week. Also, avoid using an exfoliating tool or cleanser near your eyes, as this skin is far too sensitive and doesn't need exfoliation.

The 5 Minute Miracle Wrinkle Remover

It is:

Our famous serum may help give you, cosmetically up to 8 hours of younger-looking and wrinkle-free skin.
It also contains ingredients from scientific research and analysis that could help revitalise the skin, may help in the removal of free radicals and so could help natural healing and well being long term (that means that sometimes the results improve gradually over the first month if used regularly)

It might also be considered as a type of skin food as it has many water and oil based nutrients. It is important to understand the value of these nutrients as food for our skin. Proteins, vitamins and nutrients are necessary for tissue repair and for the construction of new tissue.

Every cell needs protein to maintain its life. Protein is also the primary substance used to "replace" worn out or dead cells. Skin cells are replaced about every 24 days. The building blocks of protein are amino acids. In general, amino acids are like skin care from within. Amino Acids are the "building Blocks" of the body by building cells and repairing tissue Therefore, our specially filtered and treated serum can be considered a complete protein because it contains all eight of the essential amino acids in the mixture of up to 20 amino acids working in dynamic synergy with the oil based nutrients, vitamins A,D,E,K and omega3. One square inch of skin contains approximately 65 hairs, 100 sebaceous glands and 650 sweat glands. Every square inch of your skin is like a thousand open mouths, absorbing into the body some of what is put on it.

Wrinkles are mainly folds or creases on the skin when you skin loses some elasticity. They appear as a result of the natural biological process of ageing and decreased collagen production. Besides ageing, the other causes of appearance of wrinkles on skin can be lifestyle and sun damage.

Botox and Wrinkles
When Botox is injected into a muscle that causes a wrinkle in the overlying skin when it contracts, paralysis of that muscle prevents the wrinkle from forming. The effects of Botox are most noticeable in dynamic wrinkles, or wrinkles that are only present when the muscle contracts.

As we get older and lose elasticity in the skin, a permanent crease can form leaving a wrinkle that is noticeable even without muscle contraction. Botox does not get rid of these wrinkles, but may only help soften them.

Our aim and passion was to find this mainly natural, quick and easy way to help combat wrinkles. Our dedicated research resulted in the unique use of a mixture of essential proteins, concentrated plant extracts like essential oils, hydrates, skin conditioners, tighteners and distillates to help conquer and smooth wrinkles. We utilise the best filtered ingredients to combine, unite and work synergistically.

Concentrated – no added water
